Winter Reunion 2021
Greetings Brookwoods and Deer Run Campers and Parents,
Do you have any New Years plans as a family? Or maybe you have New Years traditions, but this year they have been cancelled!? Have you ever been up to Brookwoods in the winter for a retreat? Well, here is your BIG chance to experience the Winter Reunion as a family!
Join us this December 31st thru January 2nd for the Annual Brookwoods and Deer Run Winter Reunion. This year, the retreat is open to parents and Brookwoods and Deer Run campers of all ages. This is an incredibly unique opportunity to experience camp in the winter, connect with friends, and bring in the New Year in one of your most favorite places. Due to current COVID housing restrictions, the reunion is “Family” based; we will provide cabins for each family unit that sign up.
This year’s theme is based on the movie “Back to the Future.” If you were to travel into the future and see yourself 15-20 years from now; who would you find? Would you be excited about the person you have become? Or would you be proud of the life and legacy you have built? This is a great concept to ponder but ultimately, that is all we can do. We do not have the luxury of traveling into the future or going into the past. However, decisions we make today affect who we become in the future. The watering, nourishment of the soil today is what fosters deep roots and a strong foundation for the tree years from now. David writes in Psalm 1, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” My hope is that all who attend the retreat will hear and learn from the word of God and that we may all go into the next year with a better perspective of what God is doing in our lives and what He promises to do.
There will be fun activities during winter reunion including Fireworks, broomball, snowshoeing, sledding, crafts, a cardboard sled building competition, board games, gingerbread house building and so much more! As always, there will be great food, snacks, hot chocolate and hot apple cider throughout the weekend. Parents should note we have plenty of cabins with queen beds with linens, so if they are not feeling up to sleeping on a bunk bed, we have options for you!
I hope you can join us for this year’s winter reunion; you will not want to miss it! Click the link to register and to find out more details! As always, reach out to me if you have any questions!
