Deer Run Retreat
Deer Run Retreat
Meet you on the Front Lawn…
A few of us were gathered on the front lawn last Labor Day, sharing life stories, connecting and encouraging each other, and the seeds of a Women’s Alumnae retreat were sown. What we share with you, dear alumnae, is the common bedrock of friendship and spiritual nurturing fostered while a camper or staff member at Deer Run or Moose River Outpost. Drawn back by friendship and shared experience, as well as a common bond of faith, it is easy to reconnect and pick up where friendships left off.
What we found was a new longing for encouragement and staying connected, beyond camp experiences. We started dreaming of a way to create community based in the truth of scripture and the familiarity of a common bond. Life is hard. Camp women are wise and strong, we have a lot we can learn from each other.
Think of a cairn found on the hiking trails we all traversed as campers or staff. Each rock is a symbol of an experience, an encounter, a trial in our personal story. As we stack our symbolic rocks together and dig into God’s word, we hope to create a space of encouragement and wayfinding in our adult journey together.
And here we are—the weekend of April 5-7 is just for us. (Brookwoods Conference Center)
With great anticipation,
