Join Us for a Summer That Matters
Whether you’re looking for adventure, purpose, community—or all three—spending your summer on staff at Camp Brookwoods, Deer Run, or Moose River Outpost is an experience like no other. You’ll live in one of the most beautiful places in New England, form friendships that last a lifetime, and pour into the lives of campers in a way that’s fun, challenging, and eternally meaningful. Camp isn’t just about activities and s’mores (though we have plenty of those!)—it’s about serving with joy, leading with faith, and discovering who God is calling you to be. Ready to make this summer count?
Make a Difference This Summer
Spending a summer at camp might just be the best decision you ever make.
That’s not just something we say—our alumni tell us that all the time. Why? Because working at Brookwoods, Deer Run, or Moose River Outpost is more than a job. It’s an opportunity to live in Christian community, grow in your faith, and invest deeply in the lives of kids who will remember you for the rest of their lives.
Whether you’re leading a cabin, helping in the kitchen, driving boats, caring for campers on the trail, or running an activity area, you are part of Kingdom work—and that matters. Every role at camp is a gift of service, and when done well, brings glory to God.
Camp ministry is both fun and demanding. The days are long, full of energy, laughter, worship, and connection. But they’re also deeply meaningful. At camp, you’ll:
-
Discover what you’re capable of
-
Be mentored by Christian leaders
-
Live out your faith with purpose
-
Make lifelong friends
-
Watch God use you to change lives—including your own
You’ll also get to experience one of the most beautiful spots in New England, complete with waterfront sunsets, starry nights, campfires, and songs you’ll still be singing next year. We provide time for staff worship, devotions, and community that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
So what do you think? Are you called to make an impact with us?

Start Your Journey
Applying to work at Camp Brookwoods, Deer Run, or Moose River Outpost is easy—and exciting! Whether you’re hoping to serve at a specific location or you’re open to where God places you, the process starts the same way.
✅ Step 1: Start Your Online Application
Use our online application to get started. You’ll be able to select your preferred camp (or indicate that you’re open to all three), and tell us what kind of position you’re interested in.
📝 Step 2: Gather Your References
We ask for three references:
-
One from someone in a pastoral or spiritual leadership role
-
One from a teacher or professor
-
One from a previous employer or supervisor
Be sure to give them a heads-up—they’ll get an email once you submit your application.
📅 Step 3: Interview & Hiring Timeline
We accept applications on a rolling basis, but recommend applying as early as possible—some applicants even submit before the current summer is over! Interviews typically begin in the fall, and we continue hiring through the spring.
Once your application is submitted, we will review it and you will hear from the hiring director at your preferred camp.

Got Questions?
We get it—you’ve got questions. Here are some of the most common ones from first-time applicants. Don’t see yours? Reach out—we’re happy to help!
🔹 What’s the difference between Brookwoods, Deer Run, and MRO?
Brookwoods is our boys’ camp in New Hampshire, Deer Run is our girls’ camp next door, and Moose River Outpost (MRO) is a co-ed camp in northern Maine. Each has its own traditions and culture, but all share the same mission and leadership.
🔹 Do I need to be a Christian to work at camp?
Yes. Our program is based on the Christian faith and Biblical teaching. You don’t need to be a theology major, but you do need to have a personal relationship with Jesus and be comfortable leading or participating in Bible studies and devotions.
🔹 How old do I need to be to work at camp?
You must be at least 18 years old by the start of camp. Some positions (e.g., leadership or trip staff) require additional age or experience.
🔹 What does a typical day at camp look like?
Here’s a general breakdown:
-
7:00 AM – Wake up & cabin cleanup
-
7:30 AM – Devotions
-
8:00 AM – Breakfast
-
9:00 AM – Bible Study
-
10:00 AM–12:30 PM – Morning Activities
-
12:30 PM – Lunch
-
1:30 PM – Rest Hour
-
2:45 PM–5:30 PM – Afternoon Activities & Open Waterfront
-
5:30 PM – Dinner
-
6:30 PM – Evening Program
-
9:00 PM – Cabin Devotions & Lights Out
🔹 Do I get time off?
It depends on which camp you work in and your position. Camp is exciting and we are here to serve our campers to the best of our ability. Talk to your hiring director to find out specifics on your role.
🔹 Where do I stay?
Counselors live in cabins with campers. Support staff and non-counseling staff have their own housing spaces. Moose River Outpost and Deer Run accommodations have showers, while Brookwoods cabins use a shared shower house.
🔹 Do I need to bring anything special?
You’ll get a full packing list after hiring. Essentials include modest clothing, closed-toe shoes, a sleeping bag, and a Bible. Good quality hiking boots are a must. Flip flops are only allowed at the waterfront.
🔹 How’s the food?
It’s great! We offer balanced meals, a cereal/fruit bar at breakfast, and a salad bar at lunch and dinner. We can accommodate common dietary needs and allergies.
🔹 How much do I get paid?
Pay depends on your role, experience, and years at camp. Returning staff receive raises. If you’re interested in specific rates, feel free to ask during your interview.
🔹 Can I use my experience for college credit or an internship?
Yes! Many staff use their camp role to fulfill internship or practicum requirements. Let your director know if this is something you’d like to explore.
🔹 Do I need a car or a computer?
You don’t need a car, but you can bring one for days off. Computers are allowed but must be kept in designated staff areas—not in cabins.
Beyond Summer
While summer is the heart of our camp season, ministry happens all year long. If you’ve loved your time at Brookwoods, Deer Run, or Moose River Outpost and want to stay involved, there are several ways to serve outside of June–August.
🧑🍳 Part-Time Retreat & Conference Work
From late August through early May, our New Hampshire campus hosts guest groups, retreats, and conferences. We often need part-time help in:
-
Food Service (kitchen prep, dishwashing, meal service)
-
Housekeeping & Facility Support
-
Weekend setup and logistics
Most part-time shifts are Fridays through Sundays, with occasional weekday needs depending on group schedules. If you’re local (or within commuting distance), this is a great way to stay connected to camp and continue serving.

💼 Full-Time Employment
Occasionally, we have full-time positions available in areas like programming, guest services, maintenance, and administration. If you feel called to long-term ministry or want to grow your leadership at a deeper level, let’s talk!
