Staff Winter Reunion
Join us this January 3rd thru January 5th for a Brookwoods and Deer Run STAFF REUNION. Check in no earlier than 4PM on Sunday. This will be different than normal, as we will not be having any campers at reunion. This year we are hosting a separate “Family Winter Reunion” just a few days prior to your arrival which means staff do not have to act as counselors in the cabins this year. This allows us to space everyone out in cabins, the dining hall and in meeting spaces. Even though things are different, we still want a reunion to happen. We want it to be a time where you can be back at camp with your friends, experience the beauty of God’s creation and recharge your batteries. It has been over a year since we have been able to gather so it is an excellent opportunity for all of us.
This year’s theme is based on the movie “Back to the Future.” If you were to travel into the future and see yourself 15-20 years from now; who would you find? Would you be excited about the person you have become? Or would you be proud of the life and legacy you have built? This is a great concept to ponder but ultimately, that is all we can do. We do not have the luxury of traveling into the future or going into the past. However, decisions we make today affect who we become in the future. The watering, nourishment of the soil today is what fosters deep roots and a strong foundation for the tree years from now. David writes in Psalm 1, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” My hope is that all who attend the retreat will hear and learn from the word of God and that we may all go into the next year with a better perspective of what God is doing in our lives and what He promises to do.
The cost of the retreat is $45/per person, which covers cleaning of the rooms and meals. As always, there will be fun activities to do during our staff reunion including our new broomball/hockey rink (bring ice skates if you have them), snowshoeing, sledding, crafts, winter hiking, board games, gingerbread house building and so much more! We will also spend time together as a staff worshipping God together and reflecting on His word together. As always, there will be great food, snacks, hot chocolate and hot apple cider throughout the weekend.
[Unfortunately, some increased cases of COVID have resulted in new travel restrictions, and we will all have to monitor this in the next few weeks and will let you know if this impacts our reunion plans.]
Sign up form is at the bottom of this page.
If you have any questions about housing or the retreat, just reach out. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you!
