60th Anniversary of Horsemanship at Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run
Attention all Riding Directors, Horse Chicks, and Stable Hands!
You are invited to celebrate 60 years of Horsemanship at Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run. Please join us on Saturday, August 3rd from 2:00-7:30 pm at The Stables.
Activities: We’ll hang out at the Stables and horse ring, check out our new horse ring, talk to the horses, have pony rides, and weather permitting, enjoy a trail ride. We’ll have scheduled tours of camp and our new Fieldhouse. We’ll open up the Camp Store for you later in the afternoon. Once our campers have made their way up the hill for dinner, we’ll head down to the Swim Beach to jump in the lake and have a picnic dinner, weather permitting. We’ll help you get back up the hill when the party’s over around 7:30.
Registration: There is no cost for this event, but you will need to complete the registration below before July 29th. This event is for Alumni Stables staff and their families.
Pictures: Do you have pictures you can please share with us? We’ve started a shared google album and you can just “drag” them into the album. That’s the easy part. The hard part will be getting them in a digital format!
Stories: We’ll be highlighting the Anniversary and our time together in the Fall Weathervane. Please email Melissa Yonan with your thoughts, lessons learned, and funny stories from your years working at The Stables.
Housing: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate overnight guests at camp. Alton Bay Christian Retreat Center has set aside a few rooms for us. Please contact Melissa Yonan if you are interested in reserving a room for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights. Rooms are $89 per night.
Spread the word: Do you have camp friends that you are still in touch with, that you worked with at the Stables? We are trying to recreate who worked when, but we know we are missing people and their contact information. We’d really appreciate it if you pass this invitation along to them and pass along their names to us!
We’re building a new ring! In order to increase the number of riders and give them different experiences that match their skills, we’re expanding our riding program with the addition of a second ring. The cost for this expansion is $50,000. Donations toward this project would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a gift, click here and use the pull-down for the Horseback Riding Ring. If you have questions about giving, please contact Ann.
Rain plan: We look forward to seeing you “Rain or Shine.”
Please note: Since camp will be in session, guests will need to be escorted at all times. Thank you for understanding.
