Meeting Spaces

Moose Hall

This is the signature gathering space at Moose River Outpost, Moose Hall is both beautiful and functional. A log building featuring seating for 200, it can still feel cozy thanks to its rustic styling and large wood burning stove. As a worship space, it echoes beautifully and features basic audio-visual equipment. As a recreational space, it has ping-pong and board games.

Coffee Shop

In addition to being a great hangout, the Coffee Shop features a stage and an integrate audio-visual setup. It’s great for groups of 40 or less. We can schedule a time with your group to have our staff make shakes for your group! Foosball and ping-pong are both available in the Coffee Shop. Close by, on the porch of the Dining Hall is a MRO favorite, Carpet Ball.

Katahdin Meeting Room

Groups of 30 or less will love this medium sized space for meetings, worship, or just to hang out. The Katahdin Meeting room includes a pool table.

Waterfront

Heald Pond is a private pond that can only be accessed through Moose River Outpost and is quiet possible the best native Brook Trout fishing pond in the whole Moose River Valley. Whether you head out in one of our kayaks to catch the early morning mist or fish from your canoe as the sun sets, there are 186 acres for you to explore!

Swim Area

Our swim area features plenty of room for wading, swimming, or just sunning on the dock. We also have a floating dock equipped with waterslide, a diving board, and a balance log.

Canoe & Kayaks

These are free to use for all guests of MRO. All we ask is that you wear a life jacket and follow basic safety rules.

Fishing

Heald Pond teems with native brook trout and land-locked salmon. Fish from a free-to-use canoe for the best experience. Even beginners will find fish easy to find on this pond. If you are under 16 yrs. old you do not need a fishing license, but all others will need a current Maine fishing license.

Outdoor Recreation

Activities with A Fee

Several activities are available for a reasonable usage fee: tubing, paintball, archery and rock climbing. Please ask about these opportunities as you set up your event.

Trails

MRO is home to miles of trails, including single-track mountain bike trails, a short walk to “Jacuzzi” (a swimming hole with a cascading waterfall), and a three-mile loop around Heald Pond. There is easy access to hike, bike, ride ATVs, or just take in a sunset.

Soccer Field

Our soccer field is level and is just under regulation size. In true MRO style, features goals made of pine logs.
