Fall Family Getaways

Posted by on July 31, 2020

We are excited to invite you and your family to Brookwoods for one of our Fall Family Getaways!  The weekend (Friday dinner to Sunday lunch or Monday lunch on Labor Day weekend) includes housing, meals, and several of your favorite camp activities  for your family to enjoy!

If there is one thing we can definitely say about the COVID situation, it is unpredictable.   Many have no idea what the Fall will look like for schooling options, working at home situations, going to sporting events, or enjoying traditional Fall events. We don’t know, but God knows.

Attending a Fall Family Getaway will give you an opportunity to enjoy camp when it works for your schedule this fall!

So get out of the house….enjoy someone else’s cooking for a few days and make some family memories.

Here are some of the Fall Family Getaway details…

Housing: Housing options and weekend dates will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t delay, reserve your spots today! Click HERE for details and to sign up.

Dates: We’ve given some of the weekends a theme, which we thought might help you organize with other camp friends and families. The theme does not restrict that weekend to any particular group, however. For example, September 4th to the 7th is designated for “Camp Alumni”, but you don’t need to be a part of the alumni community to attend.

Schedule: Click HERE to see a typical sample weekend schedule .

Pre-Camp Arrival: The State of New Hampshire has guidelines about coming to NH if you do not live in New Hampshire. You can find those details here COVID-19 Waiver.

The Weekend of Giving

The Weekend of Giving

by Ann Higgins, Director of Development

“What is the Weekend of Giving and why does camp do this every summer?” you may be asking. It’s a good question! Many people may not realize that Camp Brookwoods, Deer Run, and Moose River Outpost are incorporated as a non-profit organization called Christian Camps and Conferences, Inc. That basically means that we are not in operation to produce profits which go to shareholders or owners, but that camp tuition and conference income go back into running the organization. In our case, back into a ministry of creating communities where lives are transformed for Christ! What a mission! And we’ve been at it for over 75 years!

With that in mind, Camp, as a non-profit, is allowed to accept tax-deductible donations from folks who love what we are doing and want to be a part of it. That is why we regularly try to communicate the needs of the organization and invite our Camp family to join the mission, or “Join the Journey” with us through their charitable giving. Hence, a Weekend of Giving!

Instead of sending you zillions of emails on Giving Tuesday, (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) like other organizations, we have decided to have our own concentrated fundraising effort, usually Changeover (the mid-point of camp). The funds we raise normally go toward our Scholarship Fund, as approximately 20% of our campers require financial assistance to attend each summer. But this year, good ‘ole 2020 has thrown us a curve ball (at least we can watch baseball) so we are changing it up a bit. The cancellation of our regular summer programs and the inability to host spring retreat groups, has resulted in a significant and immediate revenue shortfall this year. We still do not know what the fall will bring, but we estimate that we could be facing a shortage of up to $950,000 by year’s end. That is why we are directing 2020’s Weekend of Giving efforts toward the General Fund, which allows us to use the gifts where they are most needed.

We have set an ambitious goal for the weekend. We are hoping to boost the General Fund by $75,000 as we look forward to another 75 years of ministry (and more!). It’s a big goal, but we have a big God and we are confident in His provision and the generosity of the camp family. And yes, we’re gonna need a LOT of help to get there! What can you do? If you are able, please give, (any amount is helpful) and you can help us promote the weekend on your social media by sharing posts and hashtags, which is also vital to the weekend’s success.

We are trusting that the Lord will use this “changed-up” summer for His glory at Camp and will go on to use this ministry in the lives of campers and their families for generations to come. Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support will “keep the fires burning” at Camp this year and ensure a future of God using this special place to transform lives for the Kingdom.
