Meet the Staff
Summer Staff:
Since 1964, Camp Deer Run has been blessed with an incredible diverse staff. We draw this capable group from leading colleges and universities across the country including Princeton Theological Seminary, Wheaton College, Cornell University, Georgetown, LeTourneau University, Gordon College, Harvard University, Grove City College, Cedarville University, Notre Dame, Grace College, Taylor University, Liberty University, Biola University, and many others. Approximately 85% of the staff return each year which ensures a stable core group and brings in fresh ideas each year. Each year the staff complete a 10 day training period prior to each summer. All high risk areas are supervised by staff members who have received certification and training in those specialty areas. All staff members who work with the campers have also received first aid and CPR training.Keep this team in your prayers as they serve our campers and guests with every talent that God has entrusted to them.
Mary Beth Bowling, Deer Run Director
Mary Beth has been called the "Great Experienced:" one because of her long term connection with Deer Run. A camper back in the 1970's, Mary Beth has now been on staff at Deer Run for 27 years. She loved it so much she brought back her husband, George!
George Bowling, Tripping Director
One of the most central areas at camp is our Tripping Program. George Bowling supervises a large Tripping Staff that will take each cabin on an overnight hike or canoe experience every two weeks at camp. George's personal outdoor skills are legendary; he can even start a fire in the rain with a bag of Doritos! George's wife, Mary Beth, directs Camp Deer Run for girls. Their daughters, Tennessee and Savannah enjoy attending Deer Run.
Steve Aldrich, Food Service Director
"Magic Steve" is the guy who keep everyone in the Dining Hall happy with the great food he prepares. During the summer we serve sixty four thousand meals! That is more meals than some restaurants serve all year. Campers eat 80% of the meals at camp in the Dining Hall, the rest of the time eating is done on trips, at breakfast cookouts, evening picnics, and cabin cookouts; therefore "Magic Steve" has many different activities to keep track of and supply.Mary Lefebvre, Registrar
When you call camp, you will probably have the chance to talk to Mary. She knows it all having her son and daughter attend Brookwoods and Deer Run. If you want to know what really goes on at camp, from a parental prospective, talk to Mary!
Bob Strodel, Executive Director and Debbie Strodel, Bookkeeper

Dave Gleason, Facility Director and
Judy Gleason, Craft Shop
Dave and Judy have been on the full time staff at Brookwoods for 23 years! Dave is responsible for keeping the place looking good and Judy is in charge of the summer Craft Shop.
Mike Brigham, Facility Staff
Mike has been a fun part of the full time staff since 2000. He has two interesting hobbies; car collecting and taking care of strange cats.
