Man Camp 2018

Soon the snow will stop falling, the ice will melt, and the sun will stay up in the sky past 6 p.m. Even though we’re enjoying the winter season, we’re also looking forward to what comes next: summer camp! Somewhere between the ice and incoming day, we have to find time to put camp back into immaculate fashion. Trees need to be cut, wood split, cabins painted, boats cleaned… the list keeps going and going.

The only way that we’re able to accomplish these tasks every year is the hard work that gets done at Man Camp. Each year, a group of men connected to camp dedicate a weekend working, laughing, and sharing time together on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. Many of them have been impacted by camp directly- they’ve been campers and/or counselors who’ve seen God’s work being completed right in front of their eyes.

Some of them, however, haven’t seen camp run through a normal summer day. They didn’t get to watch their child finally jump from the top of the blob tower, celebrate with them at the top of a mountain, or build a fire with them in Abenaki. But they did hear all about it on the drive back home.

Really, our hope for Man Camp is to connect fathers with the place that their children call their “favorite place” or “second home.” That fathers can tangibly impact the ground that God has used to foster Christ-centered relationships with campers for 73 summers and experience those relationships for themselves. That they can participate in the good work being done in Chestnut Cove every day for 8 weeks. Sure, the work needs to be done and we couldn’t complete it without the army of men that come every spring willing to put their hands to the plow. But our comradery and the opportunity to physically touch the ground God is using is what really keeps men coming back every year.

In short, we’re looking forward to Man Camp 2018! Join us on May 4th-6th as we work hard and gather together as a camp community. Man Camp is the perfect opportunity to spend the weekend with your friends, sons (12 or older), or even someone that might not know about the good news of Christ.
